Climate change is one of the most pressing issues humans face. The effects of extractive and exploitative systems threaten to unravel human ways of living, working, and recreating. Environmental injustice, like air or water pollution, disproportionately affects the people whom society already puts on the margin based on gender, race, disability, sexuality, and income. While many middle- and upper-class North Americans understand climate change as an intangible looming threat, our global neighbors in the southern hemisphere are already experiencing the devastating and life-changing effects of climate change. As people of faith, we are called by our Creator to care for our neighbors. In caring for our neighbors, we must also care for the earth that sustains us.
